Hey dude, I meant no offense with the picture post. I actually didn't even find it on Tumblr. I just thought it was funny and decided to share it here. You have skills, man. I would never claim what isn't mine, especially something this great
Hi!! I rly love ur art (i spent like 3 hrs going thru it yesterday oops) and i was wondering, what tablet do u use?? I want to invest and i want to get a good one.
Thank you! I use a Wacom Bamboo Pen tablet, it was about $70 back when I bought it a couple years ago… however, they no longer sell them. In it’s place is the Intuos Pen, for $80, which has wireless capabilities and looks to have a bigger space to draw on than the Bamboo! I’ve also heard great things about Monoprice tablets, which run cheaper than Wacom by far, but I’ve yet to use one myself. Do some research and choose what sounds right for you, everyone is different!
Have you seen the preview glimpse of Chainsaw Richard, that new cartoon short coming out on CartoonHangover's youtube channel? The art style looks incredibly similar to the artstyle from your previous works on this site! I was a little saddened when I found out that it wasn't your project...
no need to be sad, Chainsaw Richard looks great, and I’m excited to see it too, I’ve been following Christopher Reineman’s tumblr for a while now, his stuff is great
Wow I love your art, and as an aspiring animator I was wondering how you made your animations look so smooth... mine are often choppy even when i add extra frames... thanks a bunch!
It sounds like you’re having trouble with the duration of your frames, which is adjustable near the bottom of each frame in the Animation Panel.
If you click the black arrow, it will have some presets you can choose from, or you can click “Other” and set your own. I’ve heard the 24-frame animation standard is “0.04 seconds”, but for my looping gifs I tend to go for “0.05 seconds”. Either work fine, as they are smoother than “0.1 seconds” without being way too fast like the default “0 seconds” shown above. I also tend to keep my looping animations at either 3 or 4 frames, but that can vary depending on the content, and there’s no set way to make a good loop. You can even set the duration of each frame to different times, so feel free to experiment and find what works for you!
Someone else asked about how I animate a while ago, that small tutorial is right here, and a very neat video I found helpful showcasing the basic principles of animation can be found here! I hope I helped!
I’ve decided to stop drawing answers for all the messages in my inbox for multiple reasons.
1. It takes too long. The messages have been sitting there for months and I can’t keep up, nor do I want to anymore.
2. Certain messages irk me.I’m not a fan of the messages saying “I SHOULD draw this” and “draw this NOW”. Even if you’re joking, I don’t like the tone of those words. I’m a person, not a machine ready to follow your every whim. Unless you pay me for it. Speaking of which…
3. Commissions are impossible.I love drawing, but I want to make a living from this someday. If I ever decided to start taking commissions, then I can’t just hand out free doodles to random people. Potential commissioners would simply follow suit. It’s not fair that I would charge only a handful of people while the majority get free stuff.
With all of this said, I will still respond to messages, and I welcome them with open arms. I just hope you all understand.
